My name is Janet Balekian. With 25 years of experience as a teacher and administrator, I know firsthand the challenges we face.  I witnessed the GUSD’s decline and a culture that still silences teachers. Recent abuse cases prove that when voices are silenced, students suffer.  Educators must be supported to speak freely and report so problems can be addressed immediately.

I will restore trust, not betray it. I WILL ensure everyone is heard and included in the decision-making process. Through communication and transparency, we can rebuild relationships and create an environment where every student can succeed.

I will prioritize students and hold myself accountable to the community—not to special interest groups who do not put our children first. Bringing Glendale Unified back to the strong, thriving district it once was will take leadership you can trust.

Finally, I will direct resources where they matter most- the classrooms. With decades of experience and principled leadership in education, I will work tirelessly to ensure our schools support students, empower teachers, and encourage parent participation. I will set a new course for our schools by restoring trust and ensuring every student receives a safe, high-quality education.
